Connecting Essay
This photo by Amy Spanos, is rather surreal, the atmosphere in the image is eerie and almost like a fantasy. Everything about this photo tells me that the model is conducting a ritual of some sorts, this adds suspense and mystery. Using bleak colours in the background and towards the front of the image brighter colours such as the fire has an effect of the image being in two parts almost.
This is my picture, here I've got a model messing around with bits of rubbish on a forest floor, she is picking them up and placing them in her bag. I feel like this creates suspense and mystery as you wonder why she is doing this or what she is doing here. The smoke floating across the image ads to the mystery of the image.
The two images above are similar with certain factors on the image, both models seem to be doing something odd within the forest, perhaps both are conducting rituals. Both images use fire/smoke to add to the mystery of the image, this brings depth into the image and possibly a story behind the images.
